about Anne

I am a designer and maker from Cape Town, South Africa.  I believe products should be beautiful, useful, and well made.

My background is in Clothing Design: I studied in Cape Town at CPUT, and went on to work in the clothing industry, in design and technology, in Cape Town and London.

I love the longevity and ever increasing beauty through use, of goods made of natural materials like wood, cloth and leather, and the considered, timeous, purposeful process of making these pieces.  I find they add great value and meaning to our world.

handmade wooden goods

Each handcrafted wooden piece I make in my home studio in Observatory, Cape Town, is unique, simple, strong and finely finished – made with intent, to last and to be handed on to the next generation.  I shape carefully selected off cuts of wood into useful spoons, boards and spreading knives, for use in the kitchen or on the table.  I also make limited, unique runs of these pieces in collaboration with clients and for select stores.
